A Message from Rev. Joseph McLaughlin, O.Praem. - Headmaster Emeritus
Welcome to Archmere Academy: Delaware’s Catholic School at the Top!
Archmere Academy can be called Delaware’s Crowning Glory for many reasons…not the least of which is that it sits right at the top of the state, just south of the Pennsylvania State Line on Philadelphia Pike in Claymont. Archmere has a rich history, educating youth in this area for over 75 years. Founded by the Norbertine Community of Priests and Brothers in 1932, Archmere is a Catholic school where faith and knowledge and their accompanying values combine for the formation of the entire person.
Our sprawling campus sits on the banks of the Delaware River, which is visible from our playing fields. As this once was the Raskob Estate, our modern educational facilities, combined with historic original buildings provide an interesting atmosphere that literally crosses the centuries. Students can at once experience the state of the art Science Building and look over, just across the path to the Manor Building and at once, experience the 21st century with a glimpse at the 19th.
Our programs in academics, athletics and the arts are comprehensive, college preparatory programs evidenced by the fact that 100% of our graduating seniors go on to college and university. Our list of college acceptances is quite impressive, as are our SAT scores, which place Archmere Academy in the upper echelon when compared with national and state averages.
Archmere students are taught by a fine, professional faculty in a spiritual environment where young men and women develop every aspect of their person; where young men and women find their rightful place in the universe; where young men and women are prepared to be the intelligentsia of a world yearning to benefit from all the gifts that God brings to fruition in them in this place.
