Olivia O'Dwyer Receives People to People Exchange Award

After being named a finalist by the Confucius Institute U.S. Center for their annual student award, Archmere senior Olivia O'Dwyer received the People to People Exchange Award for her experience and study of the Chinese language. A student in the Honors Chinese class, Olivia attended the Institute's 2016 Washington Gala on September 24th. The Gala, held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, featured distinguished guests along with eight other student finalists from across the country, ranging from high school age to out of college.

The Confucius Institute Washington Gala featured a night to "celebrate the students' achievements and the Institute's mission of providing high-quality Chinese language education and introducing Chinese culture in order to enhance people to people interactions between China and the United States." Olivia was encouraged by Archmere Chinese instructor Kelsie Yang to apply last year, and supervised this year by her Chinese intructor Wenqian Chen.
