Terry Newitt and Students To Exhibit Artwork at The Darley House

The Darley House, located across the street from Archmere Academy, has invited Art Teacher Terry Newitt to exhibit his artwork, along with selected works by his Archmere students.

The reception is Friday, February 24th beginning at 5 PM with refreshments and live violin music by Archmere senior Conor McAvinue. The exhibition will continue on Saturday, February 25th from 11 AM -5 PM

Mr. Newitt's many paintings will be for sale, as well as raffle tickets for his watercolor rendering of Claymont's Old Stone Schoolhouse (located next door to the Darley House).

The Darley House was the home of famous illustrator Felix O. C. Darley. Being America's first full time illustrator, he was widely sought after by publishers who were responsible in printing the works of some of the nation's famous writers, including Charles Dickens. Edgar Allan Poe, James Fenimore Cooper, Washington Irving and Nathaniel Hawthorne are some of the other famous writers whom Darley illustrated for. His most notable works include The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle.
