Giving Day Challenge

UPDATE: Due to the success of the current challenge goal, we have been offered an additional $15,000 challenge! This could mean $80,000 for Archmere in a 24-hour span. We are overwhelmed by your generosity and are so grateful for the gifts that have already been made—thank you from the bottom of our hearts! If you have not yet participated, and would like to, please make a gift online today using the button below to help us meet our additional challenge!
On Wednesday, May 20th, Archmere Academy will come together to celebrate Archmere's Giving Day, a day established to encourage the Archmere community to show their Auk pride by making a gift to the Archmere Fund. If we receive $25,000 in gifts, an anonymous donor will match it with an additional $25,000! This 24-hour event will bring together alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends from all over in support of our school.

Contributions will directly support Archmere’s current operations, as well as students and families who will need additional financial assistance due to the economic impact of COVID-19. While Archmere will manage through this challenging time, we are projecting a significant reduction in revenue from the school’s endowment, and a postponement of critical fundraising events. These funds traditionally support financial assistance grants. We look to those of you who are invested in Archmere and are able to make a gift to demonstrate your support and solidarity at this time. Now more than ever, we need you; we appreciate every gift - no matter the amount - and we thank you for your consideration.

We hope you will consider a gift to The Archmere Fund to maximize your gift and double your impact!

Frequently Asked Questions

List of 8 frequently asked questions.

  • Q: Where do Giving Day 2020 gifts go?

Giving Day gifts go directly to the Archmere Fund which helps support school and program funds across the Academy, as well as for students and families who will need additional financial assistance due to the economic impact of COVID-19. Annual fund gifts make an immediate impact, supporting the greatest needs of the school and making a vital difference in the lives of students and faculty.
  • Q: How do gifts make a difference?

Gifts of any size provide necessary funds for every facet of Archmere's program, including financial aid, academics, arts, technology, athletics, facilities, and professional development for our talented faculty and staff. Archmere Academy relies on annual fund gifts to supplement endowment funding and tuition to cover the cost of an Archmere education.

Endowment funds—while absolutely critical to the mission of the Academy—can only be spent based on the original donors' intent and are often limited to specific areas.

Community support on Giving Day allows Archmere and its programs to respond to opportunities and needs as they arise, such as relief support from COVID-19.
  • Q: Can I make a recurring gift on Giving Day?

Yes! We encourage anyone to make a recurring gift of any size.
  • Q: Can I make a designated online gift for Giving Day ahead of time if I am unable to make the gift the day of?

Yes! If you are unable to make a gift on the day of the challenge, please donate through the Archmere Fund giving form and reference Giving Day in the details field at the bottom of the form. You may also mail a check to the School with the reference of Giving Day, at the address below. We thank you in advance for your support!

  • Q: What is the CARES Act and how does it relate to charitable donations?

Congress recognizes the importance of continued charitable giving and they have allowed corporate and individual donors to maintain or increase their giving in order to support the missions they hold closely. Below are key details of the new CARES Act that are designed to help you make a gift in support of Archmere Academy's mission and our students. Your gift to Archmere Academy can benefit our Auks in need and help the bottom line for your taxes!

New Deduction Available: In 2020, taxpayers may take a deduction of up to $300 ($600 for a married couple) in annual charitable cash contributions, even if they do not itemize. It is an "above the line" adjustment to income that will reduce a donor's adjusted gross income, thereby reducing taxable income.

New Charitable Deduction Limits: Individuals who itemize are now allowed to deduct charitable cash contributions up to 100% of their 2020 adjusted gross income (up from 60%).
