Monthly College Counseling Update: February 2019

College Counseling
Senior Decisions

The final round of admission decisions have begun to be released and schools will continue to share decisions until the end of March. As this occurs, students will transition from waiting for decisions to choosing where they’ll enroll. This process will include revisiting campuses, attending accepting student days, circling back to priorities, and comparing financial aid awards and deciding on value. The College Counseling Office continues to communicate with and be accessible to seniors and their families. Please reach out to us if you have questions.

Juniors Career Day & Family Meetings

Junior Career Day was a huge success! Students were able to choose between 18 different career speakers (10 of the 18 presenters were Archmere alumni) who shared information about their careers and preparation for the work that they do. Fields ranged from orthopedic surgery to architecture, to working for the FBI. Thank you to everyone that volunteered their time to assist with the day. Thank you to Ms. Souza for coordinating the day’s events and all the faculty and students that volunteered throughout the day.

Family meetings have started with the junior class. Meeting discussions include testing, teacher recommendations, senior course decisions, fit factors, list creation and adaptation, and moving forward. The result is a flexible search plan that will be used to guide the next six-seven months. A family meeting is required for all juniors.
