Vincent J. Filliben Mid Atlantic Turkey Shootout

The inaugural Vincent J. Filliben Mid Atlantic Turkey Shootout took place over Thanksgiving break on the Archmere campus. The tournament, named after legendary Archmere teacher, athlete, coach and Hall of Fame member Mr. Vince Filliben, featured 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams from Delaware and Pennsylvania. The tournament was organized by 1998 Archmere graduate and Assistant Athletic Director, Mr. Nick Sanna.

St. Anne’s, St. Edmond’s, St. John’s, and St. Mary Magdalen represented the Delaware schools participating in the tournament. Pennsylvania was represented by St. Aloysius, St. Cornelius, St. Francis of Assisi, and St. Maximilian Colby. St. Edmond’s withstood a late rally by St. Max to win the championship. Several members of the Filliben family were on hand for the finals and winning trophy presentation.

The spirit and legacy of coach Filliben continues to live on in today’s athletes, and we are grateful that the Filliben family could join us!
