Karl Boettcher '88 Chosen to Perform in United Ukranian Ballet

Karl Boettcher '88 is currently performing the role of Chief Nobleman onstage at Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, in United Ukrainian Ballet's production of the classic "Giselle". Both Karl and his brother Tom Boettcher '81 have performed several productions previously at the Kennedy with Mariinsky Ballet and ABT. Although Tom had to miss auditions while undertaking a special project in New Zealand, Karl was chosen from among 70 specially selected dance performers for one of four positions in the Ballet under the direction of world-renowned ABT choreographer Alexei Ratmansky.

Karl and Tom brought a special guest to this year's Homecoming festivities-- Ms. Katarina Holosova, from Kyiv.  Karl served as mentor to Katarina, an analyst who worked on anti-corruption projects funded by British Foreign Services, and he orchestrated her escape from Kyiv on Feb. 24, 2022, as Russians advanced on the city. The Boettcher brothers have smoothed the way for this Ukrainian refugee to continue her anti-corruption work for KPMG in their Manhattan Financial Forensics Group. Ms. Holosova is one of the first participants of the United for Ukraine Program initiated by Archmere alum and POTUS, Joe Biden '61.
