Bella Hughes ‘24 Receives the Michael Curcio '06 Emerging Artist Scholarship Award

Archmere art student Bella Hughes ‘24 has been named the recipient of the annual Michael Curcio '06 Emerging Artist Scholarship Award for her commitment to the study of art, outstanding portfolio, and originally conceived sketchbook. Bella was selected for the award by Archmere’s Fine Art Department faculty, and her work was recently highlighted at the Archmere Fine Arts Festival on April 28.
Selected by Archmere’s Art & Design Department and Mrs. Tina Curcio, the Michael P. Curcio '06 Emerging Artist Scholarship Award is presented annually to a deserving junior in recognition of overall excellence in the visual arts, and who most embodies Mr. Curcio's commitment to artistic excellence as evidenced in creative process documentation, original sketchbook work, and an art portfolio demonstrating the emergence of an original personal vision. The Emerging Artist Scholarship Award recipient receives a $2,000 tuition scholarship, graciously funded by the Curcio family and friends in memory of Michael Curcio, class of 2006.

At the event, Bella gifted Tina Curcio with her Mixed Media piece, “Postmodern Zeitgeist”, which was awarded a Silver Key in this year’s Scholastic Art Awards competition.

Congratulations to Bella!
