The Laramie Project is not a typical play.  It is a docu-drama, giving the feeling of a documentary more than the normal plot-driven story.  The documentary covers the tragic beating death of Matthew Shepard that took place in a remote town, Laramie, Wyoming.  Shortly after Matthew’s death, and after the country’s media attention turned the city into a symbol of hate and bigotry, the Tectonic Theatre Company in New York traveled to Laramie and interviewed the townspeople.  The play is a conglomeration of those interviews casting a bright light on town of Laramie, and frankly, Anytown, USA.   The play is an inspiration, reminding the audience to spread love, not hate.
