Abigail Kates '20 Wins the State Championship in High Jump

Due to wet, rainy conditions, the DIAA Track and Field Championships were postponed to this past Monday and Tuesday in Dover, DE. The change of schedule did not deter Archmere sophomore Abby Kates from pursuing her goal - a gold in the high jump. This year, Abby has won the high jump at the DIAA Indoor Track State Championship, won the Art Madric Hall of Fame Invitational where she tied the Archmere girls' school record of 5 feet 3 inches, and recently cleared 5 feet 5 inches, winning the New Castle County Track and Field Championships. This week at the outdoor DIAA State Track and Field Championships, she again claimed first place, clearing 5 feet 2 inches to take the title. She also placed 3rd in both the long and triple jump. Congratulations to Abby!
