Michael Devine '18 Headed to West Point, Receives Admiral Charles LeMoyne Leadership Award

On June 12, Michael Devine '18 received The Admiral Charles LeMoyne Leadership Award, sponsored by the Ben Franklin Global Forum. Named in honor of former Deputy Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command, the LeMoyne Award goes to a high school senior who exemplifies courage, integrity, perseverance and leadership. The Ben Franklin Global Forum established the award in 1997 as a tangible way to publicly recognize the legacy of Admiral Charles LeMoyne.

In addition to receiving the award, Michael was one of twelve Delaware graduates who are headed to US service academies in the fall that were recognized and congratulated by Senator Tom Carper, U.S. Senator Chris Coons and Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester during a reception in the United States Capitol Visitor Center.

Each year, students interested in attending the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy or U.S. Military Academy apply for a nomination through members of the United States Congress. Members nominate top candidates from their home state, ensuring that the best and the brightest are considered for admission to the nation’s leading service academies. This Fall, Michael will attend the United States Military Academy (USMA), also known as West Point. Congratulations to Michael on his acceptance to West Point, and we wish him the best of luck!
