Colleen Carney '15 Named University of Richmond's Scholar Athlete of the Year

The University of Richmond Department of Athletics hosted their annual Scholar Athlete Breakfast on Monday, November 5, where they honored fifty-nine student-athletes for their academic accomplishments, including the top scholars from each team and the teams with the top cumulative GPA from the 2017-18 school year. 2015 Archmere Academy graduate Colleen Carney, a senior cross country and track & field runner at the university, was not only among that group, but was also awarded the biggest honor of the day. Colleen was named the University of Richmond Scholar Athlete of the Year. Colleen is completing her dual degree in Leadership Studies and Healthcare Studies.

The University of Richmond's website wrote, "It's such an incredible honor to recognize so many student-athletes for their academic achievements," said Assistant Athletic Director for Academics Bruce Matthews. "It's remarkable what they're able to accomplish at an institution that challenges you both academically and athletically."
