Caroline Donovan '19 Signs To Play Lacrosse At College Of William And Mary

Archmere senior Caroline Donovan signed her National Letter of Intent to play Division I lacrosse at the College of William and Mary. A field hockey and lacrosse player at Archmere, Caroline has been a standout on both fields since her freshman year.

During her high school career, Caroline’s lacrosse honors included an invitation to the Under Armour 150 recruiting event, an invitation to play at the Finish Line Empire Lacrosse event, Second Team All-State as a sophomore, and First Team All-State as a junior. Outside of Archmere, Caroline plays for the Green Turtle Lacrosse Club.

In addition to her lacrosse honors, Caroline has racked up accolades in the world of field hockey, and was named to the First Team All-Conference list both her junior and senior years. This fall, Caroline led the Auks to a successful season and the quarterfinals of the DIAA State Field Hockey Tournament.

Making a mark on Archmere as early as her freshman year, Caroline was awarded the Pasquale “Pat” Marinelli Memorial Award, an award presented to the freshman who best exemplifies the qualities of an Archmere Academy student athlete. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and boasts a 4.75 GPA.

When asked, “Why did you choose William and Mary?”, Caroline states, “I was initially drawn to the College of William and Mary because of its rich history of academic excellence. My visits to the college confirmed my sense of the opportunities presented by William and Mary. On the lacrosse field, I had an immediate connection with the coaches and players and their shared sense of team unity. It was clear to me that the lacrosse team, like the college, has a high expectation of excellence.”

“Thank you to my parents and sister for supporting me throughout this entire process and for believing in me. Thank you to my early lacrosse coaches, Coach Kenney and Coach Thompson, who taught me the uniqueness and special qualities of the game. Thank you to my high school coaches, Tom and Ali Kern and Alex Beatson, for helping develop my skills and supporting me. Last, thank you to the entire Greene Turtle family, especially Coach Feffie Barnhill, Coach Monahan, and Coach Bramble; I could not have gotten to where I am today without your everlasting support and guidance, and the help of my teammates, and all of the Greene Turtle coaches.”

Caroline plans on studying either Global Studies, International Relations, or Public Policy at William and Mary.
