Speech and Debate Team Set to Compete at National Level

The Speech and Debate team competed at Cab Calloway last weekend for the opportunity to represent Delaware at the NCFL's (National Catholic Forensic League's) National Championship in Milwaukee over Memorial Day weekend. Five of the seven Archmere students competing earned that right:
 
Seth Bale '19:  Oratorical Declamation (performing a speech given by another person) (Seth is also the alternate in Oral Interpretation of Literature)
Amanda Treston '22:  Oral interpretation of literature
Monica Onishi '19 and Rohit Mathur '21 (stepping in/up at the last moment): Duo Interpretation of Literature
Owen Phillips '21:  Student Congress (parliamentary debate--as the alternate in Lincoln-Douglas debate, Owen moves on in Congress) 
 
Their next competition is the First State Speech and Debate Championships, held on April 13th in Middletown, DE. The team is supervised by Mr. Tim Dougherty.
