Phoebe Brinker '20 Wins 2019 DIAA Golf Championship Title

Archmere junior Phoebe Brinker started the day four strokes back after an opening-round 73, but jumped into a tie for the lead after nine holes. She then claimed a four-stroke victory with a 3-under 33 on the back nine to win the 2019 DIAA Golf Championship Wednesday at Cripple Creek Country Club. Phoebe, who won the title in 2016 and 2018, helped lead the Archmere golf team to an impressive 12-4 record this year.

Brad Meyers of The News Journal quoted Phoebe as saying, “I just kept pushing, kept pushing,” she said. “I didn’t how Jen or anyone was doing. But I knew I was playing well, so I knew I had a shot. I kept making birdies.”

The Archmere team placed fifth in the State Tournament, going 322-237—559.
