Phoebe Brinker '20 Named to Ping Junior Solheim Cup USA Team

Last week, the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) announced the names of the junior golfers, including Archmere golf standout Phoebe Brinker ’20, invited to represent the United States at the 2019 PING Junior Solheim Cup, set to take place at Gleneagles, Scotland on Tuesday, September 10th and Wednesday, September 11th.

The Solheim Cup is the pinnacle of women’s golf with the best players from Europe and the USA going head-to-head in match play format. Phoebe will compete in the 16th edition of the event, which promises to be one of the highlights on the world’s sporting calendar in 2019.

Inaugurated in 2002, the PING Junior Solheim Cup is a version of The Solheim Cup for female amateurs aged 18 and under and follows a similar format to the senior event, featuring the top 12 European junior amateurs versus their American counterparts. The event is held over two days, with six fourball and six foursomes matches the first day, and 12 singles matches the second day. The United States leads the all-time PING Junior Solheim Cup series 6-2-1 and has won five consecutive matches.
