Spring Break in Belize
The Science Department is offering another trip April 9-16, 2020, which will be an opportunity for experiential learning of unspoiled terrestrial and marine ecosystems. The trip also includes cultural exposure and guided adventures such as tubing an underground cave and snorkeling along the world's second largest coral reef system. Students will be observing biodiversity each day. We will be staying first at an internationally recognized zoo for its conservation and while there students will participate in research or service projects. Then participants go to an island for the remainder of the trip where we'll snorkel and explore unique geological features. Science teachers have flyers with the daily itinerary. Archmere Dramatics Presents: "Aristopia!"Inspired by the Archmere school trip to Greece this past summer, the Drama Club is proud to present a mash-up of two zany comedies by the Greek writer Aristophanes, lovingly titled "Aristopia!" The two-comedies-in-one production takes a playfully satirical look at wild suggestions on how to improve the democratic government of Greece. With an eye on two thousand years ago, the SNL-like commentary and satire is, not surprisingly, incredibly relevant to today’s struggles we face in our own democracy.
"Aristopia!" stars senior Ali Curren and junior Alyssa Pierangeli as Socrates (no, not that one) and Xeno, the narrators and guides on the trip back to ancient Greece. Senior Melina Reilly (Plutus), sophomore Rob Smith (Chremylus) and junior Gianna Abbrescia (Cario) lead the Plutus plot about taking money from evil people and giving it to the good people in society. Seniors Elise Brady (Praxagora) and Stephen D’Antonio (Blepyrus) lead the Assembly women plot about giving the control of government over to the women to see if they can make the society better.
The play runs the first weekend of October: Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th at 7pm in the SNH Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $5 for students of any age, faculty and senior citizens, and $10 for general admission.
