College Counseling
Fall Meetings and College Admission Visits

It’s fall application and meeting session time in the College Counseling Office. All seniors are required to meet with their college counselor to finalize their application plan as October 15th and November 1st deadlines are right around the corner. Over the next six weeks, the Office will process approximately 1,000 application requests.
We will also host ~140 college admission representatives to Archmere. Juniors and Seniors are welcome and encouraged to attend these session. A list of visits can be found on Naviance.

Upcoming College Counseling Programs:

Senior parents are invited to attend the Financial Aid Night on Thursday, October 10th at 7 pm in the SLC. Kristin Moore, Financial Aid Director of Services at Swarthmore will be presenting. The program’s focus is on the FAFSA and CSS Profile

Our Prepping for Testing Night is Tuesday, October 29th, and Matt Steiner from Compass Education Group will be presenting. Matt will discuss the different types of testing and how colleges use test scores in their admission process. The program will specifically address the differences in the SAT and ACT, and provide recommendations on how to decide if one test is better than another for a student. A review of the testing calendar and recommended testing plans will be discussed. Matt will also provide information on how test-preparation delivery varies, and the variables that should be considered when deciding how and when to prepare for college admission testing. The program is primarily geared toward junior families, although sophomores and their parents are welcome. We will repeat this program annually.

Juniors will be required to attend their annual College Panel on Tuesday, November 12th at 7 pm in the SLC. The panel presentation is also open to families of juniors and all members of the Archmere community. We will welcome five college admission representatives from popular Archmere schools to discuss the college search and admission process. Following this program, juniors will begin to meet individually with their college counselor.
