Monthly College Counseling Update: February 2020

Career Day

On Thursday, February 13th, College Counseling hosted our annual Junior Career Day. We were fortunate to welcome 20+ speakers to campus including nine alumni and five current or past Archmere parents. Throughout the day, students were able to select five different sessions they could attend ranging from aviation to anesthesiology and from photography to engineering.
To hear more about Junior Career Day from the student perspective, read this blog from Gabriella Gildea '21. Additionally, to view a slideshow of pictures from the day, visit Archmere's news page. This year’s program was a huge success. We’d like to thank Ms. Souza for coordinating the event and all the faculty, administrators, alumni, parents, and friends that gave their time to contribute to the success of the program.

Junior Family Meetings

We have completed our initial meetings with juniors and started family meetings this week. Meetings will take place all spring during a student’s free period or after school. Discussions will include: testing, teacher recommendations, senior courses, college preferences, college lists, summer plans, and other items. To schedule please visit - https://pickatime.com/client?ven=11607878&event=332669.

Sophomores

Sophomores were provided their access and introduction to CIALFO, our replacement for Naviance. Home work assignment were do last week.

Regular Decisions

The last round of admission decisions will start in March as schools begin to release their Regular Decisions (RD). This will begin the rush to make final decisions by May 1. The College Counseling Office is here to assist with decisions, review financial aid awards, and answer questions. It’s an exciting and anxious time, please support our seniors by letting them know how proud and impressed we are by their accomplishments. And assure them that their admission decisions are not an indication of their abilities.
