Archmere Dramatics Presents: Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night’s Dream"
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of Shakespeare’s most beloved and most produced plays in his repertoire. The play’s simple love-story and hilarious takes on love and life produces some of the most immortal lines in history like, “Lord, what fools these mortals be” and “The course of true love never did run smooth”. Our play is set in the late 60’s/ early 70’s, a time of Beatniks and Hippies and great music. The play follows teenage lovers Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius and Helena as they fall in and out of love, attempting to avoid the strict rules of parents and society. While in the woods, the lovers get entangled in a spat between the king and queen of the fairies, much to the amusement of their mischievous servant, Puck. Meanwhile, a group of actors, attempting to practice a play for the Duke’s wedding, also get mixed-up in the zaniness. A play full of tender moments and laughter, Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a play for everyone to enjoy.
Over twenty Archmere students are involved in the production’s cast and crew. Seniors Alexis Rendel and Katie Yakovenko play Hermia and Helena, juniors Rob Smith and Ella Bellace play their off-and-on boyfriends, Lysander and Demetrius. Sophomore Connor Adams and junior Serena Martin play the King and Queen of the Fairies. Senior Gianna Abbrescia plays the conniving sprite and servant, Puck. Senior Annalise Tonn and junior Kaitlyn Kaulback play Peter Quince and Nick Bottom, the leaders of the Beatnik acting troupe. Juniors Jake Nowazcyk and Pauline Hartman play Duke Theseus and his soon-to-be wife Hippolyta.
To accommodate for Archmere’s health and safety protocols, the play will be performed outside in the Formal Garden area of campus (in between the Patio and the Science Building). Please bring blankets or your own chairs so you can socially distance in the grassy area and be comfortable. Kindly note, audience members must socially distance and wear masks during the performance.

The play will run Friday, October 2nd at 4:00 pm and Saturday, October 3rd at 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.** Admission is free, but donations of the suggested ticket price of $10 or more to the Archmere Drama Club are much appreciated. Donation QR codes will be posted at the play and in the program.
