Anna Garcia '21 Signs To Play Soccer At Lafayette College

Anna Garcia, senior at Archmere Academy, signed her National Letter of Intent to join Lafayette College’s Soccer Team on November 11, 2020.
Lafayette is a Division 1 athletic program located in Easton, PA. A soccer standout since her first year at Archmere, Anna has been a varsity starter for the past 3 seasons. As a freshman, she made her mark for the Auks by scoring 14 goals that year, the most of anyone on the team. By sophomore year she was scoring 24.
 
Anna was recognized for her athletic talent as early as freshman year, when she received the Top Newcomer Award in 2018. Since then, she has been the Delaware Online High School Athlete of the Week, received First Team All-State and First Team All-DSAC Conference Honors, and was also named Archmere Academy’s Best Attacking Player.
 
Outside of Archmere, Anna plays for the highly regarded Penn Fusion Soccer Academy. By her junior year, she earned a spot in their top-level program, the Penn Fusion USSDA U18/19 Team. Last year, she had 6 goals and 3 assists, helping her team to a winning record. This year, she plays on the Penn Fusion ECNL U18/19 Team.
An athlete who also excels in the classroom, Anna received Summa Cum Laude Honor Roll recognition for her academic achievement in 2017, 2018, and 2019. She is also a member of the National Honors Society. This year she serves as the Archmere Community Service Co-President and is a Diversity and Inclusion Leader.
In addition to her soccer honors, Anna has won multiple Fine Art awards at Archmere. Last year she won two Silver Keys and two Honorable Mention Awards for Photography in the nationally recognized Scholastic Art and Writing competition. The prior year, she won two Gold Keys, two Silver Keys, one Honorable Mention for Photography.
 
In her free time, Anna volunteers for several causes that are close to her heart. For the past two years, she has helped out with the B+ Foundation, the largest provider of financial assistance to families of kids with cancer nationwide,volunteering her time at their annual Run/Walk in the summer, or helping Archmere raise money for the Foundation at their Annual B+ Volleyball Tournament. Anna has also helped out at the Auks Beat Cancer Dodgeball Tournament.
 
Anna answers, Why Lafayette?
 
“I knew I wanted to attend Lafayette because it offers a challenging academic atmosphere paired with a competitive Division 1 soccer program. Every time I visit Lafayette I feel at home because of the welcoming community. I am so excited to continue my athletic and academic careers at Lafayette. Roll pards!!”
 
Anna is a graduate of Ursuline Academy elementary school in Wilmington, DE and plans to study Biology at Lafayette College next fall. This summer, Anna shadowed a Physical Therapist at Elite Physical Therapy.
