Five Archmere Art Students Featured in Youth Art Month Exhibitions

Youth Art Month is an annual observance each year to emphasize the value of art and art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs. It is observed in March, administered by the Council for Art Education (CFAE), with thousands of American schools participating. Often, local art museums and civic organizations are involved in promoting the work.

Archmere artists Jocelyn Zavala-Garcia '22 and Chinwendu Emedoh ’23 will have physical artworks exhibited at the Delaware Department of Education at Townsend Building in Dover, Delaware. The exhibit will be on display for Youth Art Month and March for the Arts (March 1st through April 30th, 2021).

Adam Hartman '23, Annie Dai ’22 and Cassie Matalonis ‘23 will have pieces featured in a Virtual Gallery on the DAEA website, as well as a daily post on DAEA social media accounts for the month of March to celebrate March for the Arts and Youth Art Month.

The program provides a medium for recognizing skills developed through visual arts experiences, including problem solving, creativity, observation, and communication. Youth Art Month helps to promote art education as a viable factor in the total education curricular that develops citizens of a global society, and increase community, business and governmental support for art education.
