Swimmers Compete in DIAA State Championship Meet

The Archmere Swim Team competed in the 2021 DIAA Swimming & Diving Championship Finals on the weekend of February 27 and 28. The boys team placed 7th overall and the girls team placed 18th. DIAA State Meet qualifiers for the girls team included Annamaria Decamp ‘23, Elizabeth Maher ‘24, Ava Soscia ’24, Amelia Klinger ‘21, Margaret Shelton ‘24, and Olivia Reese ‘22. State Meet qualifiers for the boys team included Jacob Poplawski ‘23, Joseph Marino ‘21, Jacob Piretti ‘21, Nate Hendrixson ‘21, Conor Bradley ‘21, Max Iacono ‘21, Adam Linton ‘22, and Nate Bustard ’23.
Archmere freshman Elizabeth Maher was the top finisher for the girls, placing 5th in the 50 Freestyle and 7th in the 100 Freestyle. Every relay dropped time, with the 400 Free Relay besting their seeded time by 21 seconds. 

Seniors Nate Hendrixson, Joe Marino and Jacob Piretti were the top finishers for the boys. Nate Hendrixson placed 7th in the 100 Freestyle, Joe Marino placed 7th in 100 Backstroke and Jacob Piretti placed 5th in 500 Freestyle and 7th in 100 Breaststroke. The Medley Relay of Joe Marino, Jacob Piretti, Max Iacono and Nate Hendrixson placed 4th overall, and the 400 Free Relay of Nate Hendrixson, Nate Bustard, Max Iacono, and Jacob Piretti placed 8th overall.
