Football Team Shuts Out Saint Mark's in Quarterfinals

On Saturday, November 27 in front of a sold out crowd on Coaches' Field, the Archmere football team put on a commanding performance, defeating Saint Mark's 41-0 in the Quarterfinal match up of the DIAA State Tournament. The Auks, now 11-0, will meet Delaware Military Academy on Saturday, December 4 at Abessinio Stadium. Kickoff is 12:00pm.
The top-seeded Auks limited Saint Mark’s to 24 total yards and never let the Spartans within 38 yards of the end zone. “That’s my favorite part of the game today, what the defense did,” Archmere Head Coach John Bellace stated.

Brad Myers of The News Journal summed up the game and noted that Coach Bellace had a lot of great moments to choose from:

"Quarterback Chris Albero ran for 80 yards; completed 8 of 10 passes for 175 yards and touchdowns of 43 yards to Conor Udovich, 11 yards to Matt Dellose and 64 yards to Declan Pearson; and booted two 35-yard field goals.

Cole Fenice pounced on an errant Saint Mark’s pitch in the end zone for a touchdown, and Micah Walker dashed 17 yards for the Auks’ final TD.

Fenice also had an interception and John Dellose recovered a pair of fourth-quarter fumbles for the Auks, who will host Delaware Military Academy in the semifinals next weekend."
