Archmere Art & Design Students Showcase Art at Three Special Exhibitions

Youth Art Month, traditionally recognized during March, celebrates visual art education for schools through art shows, special exhibits, fundraisers, and community activities. It is a month of promoting art and art education in the United States. Thousands of K-12 schools participate, often with the involvement of local art museums and civic organizations.
In observance and celebration of Youth Art Month, the Archmere Art & Design Department will have student artwork showcased in three special exhibitions:

Advanced Placement Art Students to Exhibit Original Artwork at the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover, DE

Inspired by the experimental and non-traditional approach of the mid-century Modern artists who will be on display in the upcoming exhibition Guild Hall: An Adventure in the Arts such as Jackson Pollock and Elaine de Kooning, the Biggs Museum of American Art challenged young artists to explore the possibilities of abstract art. Student artists were invited to submit their own original non-figural artwork for the opportunity to have it exhibited at the Biggs Museum of American Art, and a chance to win cool prizes including a family membership and new art supplies. The following seniors have original abstract artwork represented in the show: Ally McLaughlin, Annie Dai, Avery Ewing, Bella Dayrit, Bella Reeves, Beyonce Hu, Jocelyn Zavala Garcia, Lauren McIntyre, Natalie Sheets, and Ray Bellace.

An Opening Reception will be held for Artists & their families (free admission) on March 4th. The exhibition will conclude on May 7, 2022.

Two Archmere Art Students to have Artwork on Display at the Delaware Department of Education

Artwork by sophomore Michael Citrino and junior Kelsey Joyce will be on display at the DEDOE’s Townsend Building in Dover, DE through the month of March, 2022, in observance of Youth Art Month.

Advanced Placement Studio Art & Illustration Students to Showcase Original Artwork in a Special Exhibition at the Delaware Art Museum

For this special “solo”/stand-alone exhibition secured for Archmere art students, students in Mrs. Silverman’s AP Studio Art Drawing, AP Studio Art 2D Design, Ms. Hoffman’s AP 3D Studio Art, and Ms. Van Wylen’s Illustration class, all created original works of art inspired by the collection at the Delaware Art Museum. Students took a field trip to the museum in September to explore the collection in person and to begin their study and research for the project. A special reception will be held for students and their families at the Delaware Art Museum on Saturday, March 19th from 1-3pm in the Bank of America Studio Art Wing, near the Copeland Sculpture Garden.
