Archmere's Winter Musical "Once Upon a Mattress" Receives Acclaim

The Cappies, "Critics and Awards Program," is a program through which high school theatre and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews in local newspapers such as The Washington PostCincinnati EnquirerDallas Morning NewsKansas City Star, and The Philadelphia Inquirer. On March 5, the closing night of Once Upon a Mattress, the Cappies program sent twenty students from six greater Philadelphia area high schools to Archmere to critique the winter musical.
The program’s visiting students each wrote a summary, and the top two reviews are published on the Philadelphia Inquirer Word Press site. Archmere’s depiction of Once Upon a Mattress received rave reviews, with one student even writing, “There is no need to be “shy”, praise for Archmere Academy’s production of Once Upon a Mattress should be shouted from the tent-tops!”

Archmere has been a part of the Philadelphia Cappies program for the past ten years. The Cappies season ends at the end of April and voting for Cappies Awards will take place the first week of May.
