Monthly College Counseling Update: May 2022

Class of 2022!

On May 6th we celebrated our seniors with a College Decision Day celebration. The day included a class photo, games, a photo booth, and an ice cream truck. Most importantly, seniors had time to spend with their classmates. We are grateful that they had this time and thankful to have been a small part of their journeys. Godspeed Class of 2022!

Class of 2023

Students and their families will receive a "to-do" checklist for the summer to help guide them through the college search and application process (students already received this in class). Along with this communication, students will be invited to request that their college essay English assignment be reviewed by their college counselor. The College Counseling Office is available all summer for questions and conversations. Programming will begin in mid-August for application, essay, and interview preparation and assistance. Please reach out to us at any time during the summer with questions. Please keep us up to date on your visits, lists, and application progress. If you feel you haven’t seen enough, please make visits a priority!

Class of 2024 & 2025

On May 9th we welcomed about 60 first-year and sophomore parents to the First Year/Sophomore College Parent Night. As discussed that evening, information about optional summer meetings with the college counselors will be emailed out in the next few weeks.

Programming

Our Why Health Science? program was chalk full of outstanding information about educational preparation, descriptions of “days in the life”, discussion about the business side of health professions, staying focused and confident, that you can be successful in medicine without being a calculus genius, and that you don’t have to have your path determined at 17!

Unfortunately the DAIS Case Studies program had to be cancelled because of weather. We will offer the program again in 2023. Seniors, as part of College Seminar, will particulate in a application review exercise.

We’re excited to celebrate the Class of 2022 this weekend and we hope that the entire Archmere community has an amazing summer! Get some R&R…along with pockets of productivity!
