Art & Design Department Chair Stephanie C. Silverman ’00 was invited to present a national webinar sponsored by the National Art Education Association’s Design Interest Group on July 12, 2022.  The primary objective of the Design Interest Group (DIG) is to fulfill the compelling mission of supporting art and design educators, teaching artists, and other leaders as they learn how to teach, integrate, and facilitate design education within PreK-12 to guide learners of all ages in the human-centered, transformative power of design thinking and learning. Silverman’s presentation emphasized approaches to curricular frameworks, methodology and scaffolding of interdisciplinary design education content, the framing of sequences and scaffolded design-based curriculum, and teaching strategies to optimize student creative confidence. Silverman highlighted recent Archmere student projects including 3D printed small scale objects for mass production, fashion design, graphic design, and the outdoor classroom architectural design project.
