Soccer Shuts Out Sanford

On September 16th the Archmere soccer team traveled to Sanford, and it didn't take long for them to find their groove. This was their second of five straight games on the road. The first goal in their 4-0 shutout came in the second quarter.
The Auks came out looking for the early knockout, and finally the pressure paid off. Archmere had several corner kicks in the first half, and in the 23rd minute, they connected. The inbounds pass went to senior Alex MacWilliams, who fed junior Alex Passehl. His shot ticked off the underside of the crossbar above the goalkeeper and sailed into the far top corner to make it 1-0.

As the first half drew near its conclusion, Archmere finally broke through again. This time, junior Jason Lotkowski raced for the ball as it neared the end line. Jason jumped and headed the ball over the keeper and sent it into the net at a sharp angle. Archmere junior Karol Diaz made it 3-0, converting a feed from junior Mason Nowaczyk by going shoulder high to the keeper’s left. Jason Lotkowski sealed the win and added his second goal in the 68th minute on a penalty kick.

The Auks had a 12-6 shot advantage, with nine corner kicks to the Warriors’ one. Archmere senior goalkeeper Kyle Zahnow made five saves.
