Archmere Dramatics Presents: "The Brightest Thing" (or Squonk Play)

The Archmere Drama Club's fall play production will be The Brightest Thing (Or, the Squonk Play) by Don Zolidis. The play tells the story of a hyper-imaginative young girl, Emelia, who goes on a magical adventure to find and save her mother from evil Snow Pirates.  Along the way she meets a really lazy fairy, an entrepreneurial balloonist, a manatee, a jackalope and a very tearful Squonk, along with many others, with the help of a very caring chorus called "Magic".
The story has baskets-full of humor and is fun for the whole family. Over thirty Archmere students are taking part in the cast and crew to tell this touching story. Emelia is played by senior Amelia Gattuso. Her father and mother are played by Jack Roarty '24 and Holly Hayes '23. The Squonk is played by Amanda Ricci '24 and the Fairy played by Bridget McNamara '25. Original music written for the show by Caileigh Crane '25. Costumes designed by Niamh Cranny '23 and Maggie Shelton '24. Holly Hayes and Maggie Shelton also helped with the set design. The stage manager is Meredith Victoria '25.

The show will run on Friday, October 7th and Saturday, October 8th at 7pm in the high school auditorium.  Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students, and can be bought in advance for a small discount at archmereacademy.seatyourself.biz. Tickets can also be purchased with cash only at the door on the nights of the show.
