Things are in constant motion (v = d/t) in College Counseling. Seniors have been receiving decisions for the past month and junior introductory meetings are about half completed. There’s also a plethora of programming coming up in the second semester.
First, we’d like to wish everyone in the Archmere community a Happy Holidays! We are blessed to call Archmere home, it’s truly a special place.
Seniors:
College counselors will be checking emails during the holiday break and can be available for conversations with students who would like to discuss changes to their application list. We’ve communicated with the Class of 2023 and their families about sharing decisions, being patient in reacting to them, and putting the entire process into proper perspective.
Juniors:
We’ve completed more than half of the introductory meetings; about 80% are scheduled. Juniors that have not scheduled, please do so ASAP here. We also had our first of two Junior Parent Nights in December. Thank you to the 50+ parents and guardians that attended. We will have a repeat of the program on January 10th (same advice and jokes). We ask that parents register in order for us to have proper room requests.
We have two, four-day weekends, that are perfect for visiting college campuses. We encourage families to take advantage of the days off (January 16 & 17 and February 17 and 20) to see campuses, listen to messages, and explore communities (FYI - the actual holiday dates will be very busy on most campuses). Finally, as families begin or continue to contemplate the college search and selection process, we’ve posted a new college counseling blog, The College Search Starts with the Student…and Questions.
Upcoming Programs:
Junior Parent Night - January 10th (6:30 in SLC)
Free practice SAT (paper, for juniors and sophomores that are considering testing before the Spring of 2025) - January 21st (7:45 am start)
