Archmere Dramatics Presents "Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka"

The Archmere Academy Drama Club is proud to present its Winter Musical, the classic, "Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka". This nostalgic musical was originally a movie starring Gene Wilder and later rebooted starring Johnny Depp. The classic songs "Pure Imagination", "Candyman", "Golden Ticket", "I Want it Now!", and of course the Oompa-Loompa songs are all part of a fun night of theater.
"Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka" stars junior Jack Maister in the title role, a chocolatier who is looking for someone to help him run his chocolate factory. Charlie and his Grandpa Joe (played by sophomore Caileigh Crane and senior Jonah Tonn) are part of the lucky bunch of children and their parents who find the miraculous Golden Tickets and get to go on the magical and full-of-surprises tour of the factory. Senior Alex Belmont and junior Gabi Fernandez play Augustus and Mrs. Gloop. Mike Teavee and Ms. Teavee are played by junior Jack Roarty and senior Niamh Cranny. Violet and Mrs. Beauregarde are played by junior Maggie Shelton and senior Holly Hayes. Veruca and Mr. Salt are played by seniors Grace Lawlor and Raphael Coronel. Senior Roisin Liew plays the iconic Candyman. The plot, the songs, and dancing are all callbacks to the classic movie. Over forty students will be part of the wonderfully talented cast and crew. The show is directed by Mr. Brian Manelski, choreographed by Mrs. Meaghan Thomas, with musical direction by alumni Pat D'Amato '08.

The show will be performed in the Archmere Auditorium two weekends on Friday and Saturday, February 24-25, and March 3rd and 4th at 7pm. Tickets for the show will be available online at the Seat Yourself website (https://archmereacademy.seatyourself.biz) and at the door (cash only). Tickets will be $15 for general admission and $10 for students and faculty of any school and senior citizens. If you buy tickets ahead of time online, tickets will be slightly discounted.

Please make plans to come and revel in the imagination of the cast and crew in this wonderful interpretation of the show! Thank you for supporting the performing arts at Archmere Academy!!
