Twenty-Six Archmere Art Students Featured in Youth Art Month Exhibition

Mrs. Silverman’s Junior Portfolio 2D Design students and AP Studio Art students created original works of art for inclusion in the 2023 12x12 Youth Art Exhibition, held at the Delaware Art Museum. The 12x12 Youth Art Exhibition showcases art by young artists during National Youth Art Month. The exhibition engages local schools, organizations, community centers, and education networks, and invites young artists ages 13 to 18 to bring one two - dimensional work of art. The art must be no larger than 12 inches in height or width.
What is Youth Art Month? Youth Art Month is a celebration of the visual arts!

Youth Art Month is an annual observance each year to emphasize the value of art and art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs. It is observed in March, administered by the Council for Art Education (CFAE), with thousands of American schools participating nationally. Often, local art museums and civic organizations are involved in promoting the work.

Youth Art Month not only encourages support for quality school art programs, it promotes art material safety. The program provides a medium for recognizing skills developed through visual arts experiences unlike any other curriculum subjects, including:
  • Problem solving
  • Creativity
  • Observation
  • Communication
Art shows, special exhibits, fundraisers, and school and community activities take place annually, traditionally during March, to celebrate visual art education for grades K – 12.
