Archmere Academy 10th Annual Fine Arts Festival This Weekend

On Saturday, March 25, 2017, Archmere Academy will celebrate its 10th annual Fine Arts Festival in The Patio. The event will feature artwork from students enrolled in our award - winning Fine Arts Program. Student work in a variety of media will be represented. There will be performances by the Mastersingers, as well as by the talented Stage Band. The featured alumni artist will be Gregory Tomb '96.

This year’s event is particularly special, as Terry Newitt's Watercolor and Acrylic class, and the Introduction to Design class supervised by Maia Palmer, will be showcasing their charity art project, "The Memory Project". The Memory Project invites art teachers and their students to create and donate portraits to youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as neglect, abuse, loss of parents, violence, and extreme poverty. These portraits help the children feel valued and important, to know that many people care about their well being, and to act as meaningful pieces of personal history in the future. For the art students, this is an opportunity to creatively practice kindness and global awareness. Many of these works will also be on display at the Fine Arts Festival.

The exhibit is open to the public and free of charge. Light refreshments will be served. The exhibit will open for viewing at 4:30 PM; the formal program for the evening will begin at 6 PM.
