Abby Podolski '17 Wins Tennis Title, Auks Take Second in the DIAA State Tournament

On May 26 at St. Andrew’s School, the Archmere Girls' tennis team competed in the finals of the DIAA State Tennis Tournament. Senior Abby Podolski defeated her Caesar Rodney opponent in second singles 6-2, 4-6, and 6-4 for the win. The state title capped an undefeated season for the Archmere senior.

The Dialog quoted Abby as saying, "The win Friday was amazing. I won in the state championships my eighth-grade year for Tower Hill, and now I’m winning my senior year, which is really cool.”

The Auks, who had a 14-0 regular season, finished second in the team standings to Caesar Rodney. Junior Alisa Yakovenko placed second in the state for third singles and the second doubles team of senior Idana Tang and junior Katie Griffith also took home the second place trophy for their match.
