Monthly College Counseling Update: September 2017

College Application Season

Required senior fall meetings are in full swing. The Class of 2018 is the largest in recent memory so it is important that students take the time to schedule their meeting in the near future. Parents are welcome to attend; however, it is not required. Over the next two months, over 120 college admission representatives will visit Archmere to assist students in learning more about colleges and universities across the country. Seniors must request absence from classes at least two days in advance to attend the meetings. Juniors can attend the same meetings during a free period or also request to miss class, however, they can only miss a total of two classes with permission.

National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) Conference 2017

Mr. Boehm and Ms. Souza attended the NACAC Conference the week of September 12th. They both presented educational sessions during the conference and Mr. Boehm attended the NACAC Professional Development meetings as a member of the national committee. While they were both away, Mrs. Lyon was in the office processing requests and answering questions. Please note that anytime our college counselors are out of the office, students and parents are encouraged to email Mr. Boehm and Ms. Souza with any questions. Please be patient with the response time as many of those days are very “jam packed”.

Amazing Opportunities

Our region has amazing institutions of higher education that are outstanding resources. The College Counseling office will be regularly highlighting speakers, seminars, activities, and events that are open to the public that would be enlightening for interested students and families.
