Sara Michaels Jazz Ensemble To Play Concert At Archmere

Archmere Academy’s Friends of The Patio will welcome the Sara Michaels Jazz Ensemble on Sunday, October 15, 2017 within the walls (and under the stained glass) of the Neo-classical Patio at Archmere Academy in the first of this year’s Green Concert Series. The concert will take place at 3 p.m. in The Patio and is open to the public.

Philadelphia native Sara Phelan, known by her stage name Sara Michaels, has been singing Blues, musical theater, and contemporary Christian music for most of her life until she focused her passion on Jazz. Sara’s degree from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia is in illustration, not music, but music has always been part of her life. First and foremost, Sara considers herself a storyteller in images and song.

With a love of history, she is fascinated with the origin of each song, the creative process of its roots, and how it connects to her own life story. Whether Sara is singing jazz standards from the Great American Songbook, her original tunes, or taking you back to the Blues, Sara will bring you on a personal, intimate journey always finding humor along the way. Her rich, sultry voice always delivers with “class and a bit of sass.” Sara’s major influences are the “great” ladies of Jazz: Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday, Ertha Kitt, Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O’Day, and Dinah Washington.

Tickets for the concert are $25 for adults and $10 for students. To purchase tickets, visit http://www.archmereacademy.com/greenconcertseries or call 302-798-6632 ext. 757. All event proceeds benefit restoration projects in The Patio. Archmere Academy is located at 3600 Philadelphia Pike in Claymont, Delaware.
