Archmere Boys' Soccer Defeats Charter at Union Stadium

On Tuesday evening, October 10th, the Archmere Boys' Soccer team (5-3-1) took on conference foe Charter School of Wilmington at the Talen Energy Stadium, home of the Philadelphia Union. The team played under the lights in a thrilling match, defeating Charter 1-0. Attendees and fans wore green in support of Anthony Penna '19. The night began with senior Archmere Mastersingers Danielle Cuoco, Natasha Gengler, Gia Mariano and Alisa Yakovenko singing the National Anthem in his honor. Anthony was both a Mastersinger and a soccer player.

The first and only score of the game came from Archmere sophomore Andrew Rosenbaum. WDEL writes, "After Archmere defended Charter's shot out of their penalty area, they were able to start a 3-on-3 counterattack, and Zachary Dainton fired a diagonal pass from just past the midfield stripe to a racing Rosenbaum, who sprinted behind the defense, and slid a low shot to the right corner of the goal to put his team in front 1-0."
