Shreyas Parab ’18 Invited to Serve as U.S. Delegate at Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES)

Shreyas Parab, senior at Archmere Academy and CEO of NovelTie and Co-Founder of SpellForSuccess, has been invited to serve as one of only 100 entrepreneurs on the U.S. Delegation at the upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 (GES).

GES is the preeminent annual entrepreneurship gathering that convenes emerging entrepreneurs, investors, and supporters from around the world. This year, it will be held in Hyderbad, India from November 28-30, 2017. Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, will be inaugurating the Summit, and Ivanka Trump, Advisor to the President of the United States, will lead the U.S. delegation. More than 140 countries will be represented.

The eighth annual summit will highlight the theme “Women First, Prosperity for All,” and will focus on supporting women entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth globally.

Shreyas is incredibly excited and honored to attend the Summit, especially after gaining exposure to the international startup community as one of the three American participants in the prestigious, Norwegian accelerator, Young Sustainable Impact. He says, “What I am most excited about is being able to advocate for youth entrepreneurs across America and abroad. I may be one of the younger participants on the delegation and at the Summit, but GES is not about the next few years, but the next few decades. My generation will be the one leading the future of entrepreneurship and so it only makes sense we get a voice today in shaping that.”

About the Global Entrepreneurship Summit

Seven years ago, President Obama committed to holding Global Entrepreneurship Summits each year across the globe as part of a landmark speech in Cairo, where he said that the world needed to “create a new corps of business volunteers to partner with counterparts … to identify how we can deepen ties between business leaders, foundations and social entrepreneurs in the United States and … around the world.”

This year is the first time GES will be held in South Asia. Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana state, has a strong presence of major U.S. tech firms, a robust startup ecosystem, premier academic institutions, top-notch talent, and supportive government policies in place.

Through two-and-a-half days of networking, mentoring, and workshops, the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit will empower entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas, build partnerships, secure funding, innovate, and find their target customers — creating new goods and services that will transform societies.
