Auks Defeat St. Mark's in Exciting Five Set Match

In a volleyball showdown on Tuesday night at Archmere, the Auks outlasted St. Mark’s 3-2 to improve their season record to 6-0. After splitting the first two sets, Archmere won the third set 25-21. The fourth set win went to the Spartans, setting the stage for a fifth and final match. WDEL writes of the thrilling game: The momentum swung wildly throughout the match that ran well over two hours.

Archmere’s defense quickly set the tone in the final set, as junior Nicole Kelly and sophomore Jade Bryant’s blocks put the Auks up 4-0. Junior Amy Thomson picked up rejections at 9-4 and 13-5, and it was freshman Julia Kochie’s block on match point that set off the celebration.

Archmere earned the win with the help of Lexi Kelly '18, who finished with 10 kills, 4 blocks, and 6 digs. Her twin sister Nicole contributed 11 digs, 3 kills, 2 aces, and a block of her own.

The Auks take on Charter School at Charter on Friday.
