Daniel Bondi ’16 Wins University of Delaware Programming Contest

Earlier this semester, Archmere Junior Daniel Bondi was awarded the 1st prize in the University of Delaware College of Engineering “House That Engineering Built” programming contest, for entries in the grade 11-12 category. Contestants were challenged to create a computer game illustrating the utility of hydrogels and surfactants in daily life. Game entries were judged by a panel of University of Delaware Engineering faculty and staff against criteria of appeal, educational content, aesthetics and creativity. Dan’s winning entry “The Life of Hydrogels” demonstrates the use of polymer hydrogels in the sustained release delivery of drugs to target cancer cells. The University of Delaware K-12 Engineering Outreach program sponsored the contest, with financial support from The Dow Chemical Company, in celebration of Computer Science Education Week.
