Campus Ministry

A Norbertine Way of Life

Archmere Academy welcomes students and families of all faith traditions. Known for his hospitality and his life of service to others, Saint Norbert and Norbertine communities give people a sense of belonging. Archmere embraces this tradition. As a community of faith, Archmere celebrates its Catholic heritage and the Norbertine charism, united by the importance placed on community, respect, zeal, reverence, and wisdom. The campus ministry program is inspired by the Archmere belief in developing the whole person. We provide opportunities for students to develop intellectually, physically, socially, and spiritually.

Catholic values serve as a foundation. Each day begins with a student leading morning prayer with daily Mass in the afternoons. While campus ministry programs are ecumenical in mission and scope, all students are welcomes to join the activities and services offered.

Campus Ministry Opportunities

Liturgical Offerings
Through campus ministry, students have the opportunity to participate in monthly liturgies, such as Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, altar servers, or musicians. While our liturgies are conducted according to the Roman Catholic tradition, students of all faiths are encouraged and welcomed to participate in any way possible during our community celebrations.

Every day, students can take time out of their hectic day to pause and reflect on the day's Gospel during Kenosis, which occurs in the Oratory at the beginning of each lunch period. Students may also attend daily Mass. In addition, Confession and Adoration are offered weekly.

Class Retreats
Each class will participate in a day retreat to foster community and grow closer to God and one another as they go through their Archmere journey throughout the year.

Kairos Retreat Program
This retreat program is one of the most involved and enriching of all the campus ministry opportunities. The Kairos retreat is a 3 and half day-long retreat for Juniors and Seniors, offered three times a year. Kairos is the largest program run by campus ministry.

The goal of campus ministry is to give students a chance to demonstrate their leadership and creativity while expressing, deepening, and reflecting on their faith. The Campus Minister and Chaplain operate on an open-door policy for students to have yet another resource for support, counsel, recreation, and community building. More details may be found in the Student Handbook or by contacting the Campus Minister at extension 780.
