Olivia Gropp '19 Acting in Film Set to Premier in Philadelphia
Archmere junior and aspiring actress Olivia Gropp recently found out that her current film, The Middle of X, has been accepted into the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival (PIFF) and will premiere in Philadelphia on May 5. In the film, Olivia plays the younger version of Bre Blair (Last Vegas) alongside Sammi Hanratty (Shameless) who plays the younger version of Nicky Whelan (Hall Pass). The film centers around a group of Gen-Xers who come together for a high school reunion and journey down memory lane. It was written and directed by Peter Skillman Odiorne who also wrote and directed The Greening of Whitney Brown.
Olivia’s most recent short film, Friends to the End, premiered at the Plaza Theatre in Atlanta on June 24, 2017. Olivia played the daughter of a man struggling with life-long depression; the film addresses issues of acceptance and suicide. Ryan Monolopolus, the writer and director, based his largest and most meaningful project on a subject near to his heart. Ryan formed the Global Film Conspiracyto highlight other independent talent in Atlanta and Olivia, as well as other young professionals, were inducted as the founding members.
Olivia attends The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York and was featured on their website as their 2017 YAS (Young Actor’s Spotlight) for both their New York and Los Angeles offices. She has several projects in development and has appeared in several training videos for organizations such as the Federal Reserve, as well as national and international commercials and ads.
