Jared Etzrodt '20 Participates in National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Medicine Program

This summer, Archmere junior Jared Etzrodt participated in the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Medicine program on the campus of Johns Hopkins University. During the ten day program, Jared learned some basic medical procedures from taking blood pressure and performing CPR, to learning to suture and assisting with fracture reductions. Through hands-on interactive learning, Jared explored real world medical and ethical dilemmas with insight from some of the nation’s top medical faculty professionals.

The National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) allows students the opportunity to explore a variety of specialized medical fields through hands-on curriculum, including true-to-life simulations, interactive site visits and speaker events. Students are able to experience the collegiate lifestyle firsthand, learn from doctors, participate in an interactive curriculum led by advisors, visit a top medical school, test their medical knowledge during clinical skills rotations, and explore professional opportunities in the ever-expanding fields of medicine and health care among fellow high school students.
