Archmere Football Prevails in Thrilling Overtime Victory Against St. Mark's
On September 28th under the lights at St. Mark's, the Archmere football team defeated the Spartans in an exciting overtime game, 34-28. St. Mark's came out of the gate early with a solid ground game, taking a 14-7 lead going into halftime. With a 14-point deficit heading into the final 12 minutes of action, Archmere would rely on a mix of seniors Devin Houston, Mitch Moyer and Darren DiRenzo to get the job done on the road.
Tied at 28, the game went into overtime after a failed field goal attempt by St. Mark's with nine seconds to go. The Dialog writes of the overtime match: "The Spartans had the first chance to score in the extra session, getting four downs from the 10-yard line. Bryant ran for seven on first down, but the Auks recovered a fumble on second down, setting up Mitch Moyer’s game-winning burst...Auks coach John Bellace said it was encouraging to see his team rebound after falling behind, especially against a team like St. Mark’s."
