Last week, the College Counseling office hosted a Junior College Panel, which marked the unofficial start of the formal college search process for the Class of 2021. We welcomed five college representatives to answer questions about college applications, decisions, and searches from students and parents.
Juniors will be able to schedule an introductory meeting with their college counselor starting this week. Parents of juniors will be asked to attend one of two Junior Parent College Nights. The dates are December 9th and January 14th. The programs are identical, so there is no reason to attend both. To register, visit https://pickatime.com/client?ven=11607878&event=330383.
Practice ACT and SAT
We’re offering a free practice ACT in December and SAT in January. These tests are open to sophomores and juniors and are different than the Pre-ACT tests that students take as 10th graders and the PSAT that 11th graders take. To register for the ACT, visit https://pickatime.com/client?ven=11607878&event=342793, and for the SAT, visit https://pickatime.com/client?ven=11607878&event=342799. If there are any questions about testing, please contact the office.
Decisions for the Class of 2020
Several seniors have received positive replies from colleges who review on a rolling admission basis. Most early application schools will release decisions in mid-December. Some students are working on applications with a deadline of 12/1, however, most remaining applications are due after the New Year.
Senior Career Experience Day
As part of our career programming, each senior will travel to a host company on December 5th to shadow a professional. Over 60 alumni, parents, and friends of Archmere have graciously agreed to host a student(s) for the day. Thank you to everyone that offered to host, we are grateful for the incredible Archmere network.
