Archmere's 2018/2019 Varsity Soccer Teams Are Double Honorees for National Academics Award

A total of 288 soccer teams (113 boys, 175 girls) from throughout the United States have earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2018-19 academic year. Among these programs are 30 schools receiving honors for both their boys and girls teams. As a double honoree, Archmere's Boys and Girls 2018/2019 Varsity Soccer Teams are repeat award winners, and the only school in Delaware to have both teams win the award.
The Lady Auks had a GPA of 3.98, compared to 3.95 the year prior. The Boys Soccer team had a GPA of 3.83, compared to 3.74 the previous year. The recognition is posted online by the NSCAA during the time of the Soccer National Convention that takes place every year in mid-January. To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player’s GPA, then dividing by the number of players.

The Archmere 2019 Girls Soccer Team players included graduates Halie Berkowitz, Julia Jogani, Catherine McGonigle, Jianna Tsaganos, Nicole Witherell and Karena Wursthorn; class of 2020 members Sam Curry, Isabella Gioffre, Mary Ikeocha, Rebekah Kehoe, Melina Reilly, Sam Stinger and Fiona Teaney; class of 2021 members Anna Garcia, Abigail Jones, Mikayla Millison, Abigail Oberembt and Gabrielle Witherell; and class of 2022 members Holly Cannon, Devin Dawson, Brigid Hamberger and Ava Passehl.
