Our everyday lives have been greatly impacted by COVID 19, quarantining, and shelter-in-place. We pray for the best for all members of the Archmere community and beyond. Like most things, the higher education landscape is in flux.
We will continue to keep you updated with important information and counsel each student as best we can to make decisions that are right for them. We are available to respond to questions and obtain information when necessary for the entire Archmere community.
Junior Family Meetings
College Counseling has continued to carry our family meetings using Zoom. To date, we have almost 80% of the class completed or scheduled. If you haven’t scheduled, please do so - https://pickatime.com/client?ven=11607878&event=347736. College Seminar class will continue this Monday, March 30th with Mr. Boehm and Ms. Souza each instructing two classes. Students will receive a communication informing them which class to attend. The college search and selection process has been greatly impacted by COVID 19 and we will continue to communicate with you regarding changes in college admission practices as a group. Please reach out if you have questions that you feel may impact you differently as an individual.
Seniors
The final admission decisions were released this week and all schools have shifted to a very different and uncertain yield season. With all campuses shut down, admission offices are moving to online accepted student programs and virtual experiences to try and assist students in their final enrollment decisions. We recommend students use these experiences, along with communications with the admission office and currently enrolled students to help them finalize their decisions. Deposit deadlines at many schools have been moved from May 1st - however, at this point not all schools are changing their date. Students and families should reach out to College Counseling if they have any questions about financial aid, enrollment commitments, making the final decision, or anything else that concerns them. The Office will host an online College Coffee to answer questions and share stories on March 31st at 8 am - we hope to see seniors on the video chat! We will do everything we can to celebrate the futures of the Class of 2020 whenever possible!
Programs
At the present time all future programming is either postponed or cancelled. We are exploring the possibility of offering Why Business? virtually. We hope to still have the Freshman/Sophomore Parent Night in person on a different date, but will adjust if necessary. Thank you for your patience.
