Lord, today on Easter Sunday we look forward, to a bright future, to a time of family and friendship on this most blessed day. Peter affirms in the first reading from Acts this morning the essential duty of Christ:
He went about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. We are witnesses of all that he did.
Help us Lord to do good, today in our household, and tomorrow, in the world. Make us a witness to that, to God’s love ever present, ever good, in our homes and in our community.
We ask this as we ask all things in Christ's name, Amen. St. Norbert pray for us.
I hope your Easter break is going well Auks. The sun is shining on this Easter Sunday so I hope you get out for a little bit of exercise today. Today’s Gospel has Peter running to the empty tomb, breathless when he arrives. The image of the other disciple, the one who runs faster and arrives to the open tomb first, has always struck me, stayed with me. I like the realness of the moment. The older Peter, the one “in charge” in some sense but who cannot literally keep up, and the younger, energetic disciple who, in his excitement, cannot wait to get there. We’ve all been there in some way, behind and trying to get there, as well as bounding out in front, with excitement and anticipation. And when we arrive, ultimately, we hesitate to enter. Let us enter today.
