Archmere Academy Wins Football Championship for First Time Since 1982

After 39 years without a state title, Archmere Academy overtakes Woodbridge with a 27-0 victory after an undefeated season for the DIAA Class 2A Football Championship. Declan Pearson had 18 carries for 102 yards, with Johnny Kim getting 100 yards on four carries. Chris Albero completed three passes for 17 yards with 61 positive rushing yards.
“It’s been a long time coming,” Auks coach John Bellace said. “There is no better group to get it done than these guys. I hope they hear that from the wider Archmere community. I’m sure they will,” said Coach Bellace, who also was named Class 2A Coach of the Year.  “We’ve waited a long time. A lot of great coaches, a lot of great players. These are the guys that got it done, and I can’t think of a better group to do it.”
